Taiwan Conference
A number of my Aussie friends have recently been to Taiwan to a conference.
The hotel where it was held is gorgeous. I have a photo here and the info on what they did out there.
Sorry about the space -- I'm not an expert at this. But isn't it beautiful!
Attendees flew in from Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Australia, England, America and Europe to attend a three-day Asian expansion summit conference just concluded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The venue for the summit this year was the beautiful, traditionally designed Grand Hotel in Kaohsiung.
This is annual Asian summit event first started in 2001 laying out broad plans for the area, however, in light of recent events in Asia this summit focused on what can be done to bring about stable, thriving communities with the people fully back into productivity.
The key topic discussed that plans devised for, was how to take disaster relief in the four main areas of South-east Asia to the next level.
Scientology Volunteer Ministers have been assisting people one-on-one with great success and also training others to continue the work, however, as the towns begin to rebuild and people return to everyday life, it is time to move into the next phase of progress.
In Indonesia, in support of their work, authorization has been given to the Scientology Volunteer Minister relief team to remain in the country and continue their efforts for another two months when other foreign Non-Governmental Organization were asked to leave.
Enthusiasm to bring L. Ron Hubbard’s technology to Asia was evident with networking and new expansion plans for Asia continuing long into the night.
After much coordination the conclusion was that while Scientology missions exist in India and Thailand, a new mission is now set to open in Sri Lanka in July of this year, with another one opening shortly in Jakarta, Indonesia; that each of the four tsunami-hit countries will have mobile training units to train the local people of each village as Dianetics counselors and to teach them how to use Scientology Volunteer Minister tools – they will leave behind them groups who can continue to help their people improve their lives; that a new Dianetics counseling group is being started in Medan, Sumatra; that educational needs also have to be considered therefore Applied Scholastics will be starting up in Sri Lanka and Malaysia; that the drug problem in Malaysia in particular warrants a specific drug education program so this will be going forward; and that there will be mass distribution of the non-religious moral code the Way to Happiness in Thailand, India and Sri Lanka.
In the words of one attendee: “We are fulfilling spiritual needs, raising moral awareness and providing educational skills as Asian people are ready to move on with their lives and build strong communities.”
